Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 6, 2026

The short version.

We collect what we need to run errata and contact you. We use the documents you submit only to provide the Service to you — never to train third-party foundation models, and never to sell. You can ask us to access or delete your information at any time.

This Privacy Policy explains how errata (“errata,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit our website, join our waitlist, or use the Service. By using the Service, you agree to this Policy. It works together with our Terms of Service.

1.Information we collect

CategoryExamples
Information you provideEmail address and name when you join the waitlist or create an account; messages you send to contact@errata.app.
Content you submitDocuments, audio and video recordings, prompts, and other materials you upload or enter so the Service can act on them (“Your Content”).
Usage and device dataLog data, approximate location from IP, browser and device type, and basic analytics about how the Service is used.
CookiesEssential cookies to keep you signed in and limited analytics cookies (see §7).

2.How we use information

  • To operate, maintain, and secure the Service and process Your Content at your direction;
  • To manage the waitlist and your account, and to respond to your requests;
  • To communicate with you about launch, updates, and service-related notices;
  • To monitor, debug, and improve the Service, including the quality and safety of its output; and
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

3.AI processing of Your Content

To provide features such as document ingestion, transcription, review, and summarization, Your Content is processed by AI models, which may include trusted third-party model providers acting as our processors under contract. We do not permit these providers to use Your Content to train their own foundation models, and we do not use Your Content to train models for use by other customers. We may use de-identified or aggregated data, and human review of specific content only where you ask for support or where necessary for safety and abuse prevention, to operate and improve the Service.

4.How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:

  • with service providers (for example, hosting, email delivery, analytics, and AI model providers) who process it on our behalf under confidentiality and data-processing terms;
  • to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, or protect the rights, safety, and security of errata, our users, and the public; and
  • in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, in which case we will notify you and any successor will remain bound by this Policy.

5.Data retention

We keep information for as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You can delete Your Content or ask us to delete your account, after which we will delete or de-identify your information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.

6.Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest and access controls that isolate customer data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Where matters involve protected health information (“PHI”), errata runs on HIPAA-compliant infrastructure and workflows, and we will enter into a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with eligible customers — including pilot firms — before PHI is processed. See Section 8 of our Terms of Service for details.

7.Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies that are strictly necessary to run the Service and a limited set of analytics cookies to understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect functionality.

8.Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict the processing of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. Residents of the EEA/UK (under the GDPR) and California (under the CCPA/CPRA), among others, have these or similar rights, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. To make a request, email contact@errata.app. You may also unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in the message.

9.International transfers

We may process and store information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for cross-border transfers of personal information.

10.Children’s privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

11.Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated Policy here with a new “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you by email.
